Terms of service for Declutter + Design Co.

These Terms of Service (Agreement) outline the conditions under which Declutter + Design Co. (we, us, or the Organizer) provides professional organizing, planning, and design services to the Client (you). By engaging our services, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.
Services Provided
Declutter + Design Co. provides thoughtful, non-structural organizing and design services tailored to each client’s space, lifestyle, and goals. Services may include:
- Whole-Home Organizing
- Space Planning & System Design
- Decluttering Support
- Packing & Unpacking
- Custom Storage & Built-In Design Coordination
- Interior Styling & Functional Design
- Planning, Sourcing, and Product Specification
All services are defined and agreed upon prior to commencement.
Scheduling & Appointments
Consultations
Initial consultations may be complimentary or paid and are intended to determine fit, scope, and next steps.
Appointments
Appointments are scheduled by mutual agreement. Cancellations or rescheduling require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations are subject to a $50 fee.
Late Arrivals
If the client is more than 30 minutes late without notice, the appointment may be rescheduled and the session fee may still apply.
On-Site Assessments
Certain projects require an in-home assessment prior to proposal development. This assessment allows us to evaluate the space, take measurements, photograph existing conditions, and discuss priorities, scope, and design considerations.
- On-site assessments are billed at $50 for the first hour
- Additional time beyond one hour is billed at $50 per hour, rounded to the nearest half hour
- Assessment fees are credited in full toward the client’s proposal if the client proceeds with services
- Assessment fees are non-refundable and have no cash value
Assessment fees compensate for professional time, travel, and evaluation regardless of whether the client chooses to move forward.
Planning & Sourcing Services
Some projects require planning and sourcing beyond a basic consultation or walkthrough. This may include:
- Layout development and system planning
- Product research and comparisons
- Budget-aligned options and specifications
- SKU-level sourcing and vendor coordination
- Design revisions based on client feedback
When this level of work is required, Declutter + Design Co. may charge a Planning & Sourcing Fee, structured as a flat fee or hourly rate, which will be communicated and approved in advance.
- Planning & Sourcing Fees are non-refundable
- Unless otherwise stated in writing, these fees are credited toward the client’s project total if the client chooses to proceed
- Credits have no cash value and expire if the project does not move forward within the agreed timeframe
These fees reflect professional planning and decision-support services provided prior to implementation.
Fees & Payment
Rates
Rates may be hourly, package-based, or project-based and are communicated upfront.
Payment Terms
Projects typically begin once 50% of the agreed fee is received, unless otherwise specified. Remaining balances are due upon service completion.
Accepted Payment Methods
Credit/debit cards, electronic payment platforms (Zelle), or cash.
Refunds
No refunds are issued for completed services. Concerns will be addressed promptly and professionally.
Client Responsibilities
- Ensure workspaces are safe, accessible, and hazard-free
- Provide reasonable access to the home and necessary facilities during services
- Remove or secure valuables or items of significant personal importance
- Retain responsibility for all final decisions regarding items kept, donated, or discarded
We provide guidance and support; all decisions remain client-directed.
Custom Storage & Build-Out Coordination
Design Approval
Clients must approve all designs, materials, and layouts in writing prior to ordering or installation.
Materials & Installation
Declutter + Design Co. may coordinate sourcing and scheduling with trusted trade partners. Clients must ensure spaces are ready and disclose any access restrictions or conditions.
Warranty
Build-out coordination includes a limited workmanship warranty for issues reported within 30 days of completion.
Interior Design & Styling
Clients may receive mood boards, palettes, layouts, or itemized proposals requiring written approval.
Purchasing, procurement, and delivery coordination may require prepayment. Final placement and styling approval is required upon completion.
Intellectual Property
All organizational plans, layouts, designs, documentation, and sourcing materials created by Declutter + Design Co. remain our intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Clients retain ownership of personal materials they provide.
Photography & Content Usage
By engaging our services, clients grant permission for non-identifying photographs or video of completed spaces to be used for portfolio and marketing purposes. Opt-out requests must be made in writing prior to service.
Professional Standards & Liability
We perform services with care, professionalism, and respect for your home. While reasonable precautions are taken, Declutter + Design Co. is not liable for incidental or indirect damage.
Clients are responsible for maintaining appropriate property insurance coverage.
Privacy & Data Protection
Client information is kept confidential and used only as necessary to deliver services or as required by law. Digital services involve reasonable security measures; however, we are not responsible for unforeseen data breaches.
Limitation of Liability
Liability is limited to the total fees paid for services rendered. Declutter + Design Co. is not responsible for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages.
Indemnification
Clients agree to indemnify and hold Declutter + Design Co. harmless from third-party claims arising from the services provided, including property damage or personal injury not caused by gross negligence.
Termination & Right to Refuse Service
Either party may terminate services in writing. Clients are responsible for payment of services rendered up to termination.
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services that conflict with professional standards, safety considerations, or core values, in compliance with applicable laws.
Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
Disputes will be addressed through good-faith negotiation, followed by mediation or arbitration if needed. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
Amendments & Entire Agreement
These Terms may be updated periodically. Continued engagement constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
This Agreement represents the entire understanding between the parties.
